The NIELIT curriculum has been scientifically designed to give the students a solid foundation in Information Technology. The one-year course comprises of two semesters that are further divided into four modules. The entire course is covered in more than 500 hours - divided evenly between lectures and laboratory. In addition, atleast 20 hours of inputs will be provided in the Personality Development and Pre-Placement training which gives a competitive edge to UPTEC students in the job market.

The NIELIT O' level, offered by KICS to career conscious 10+2/undergraduates, provides necessary I.T. skills required in all career streams. It is a launching pad for lucrative careers in
'O' level leads to progressively advanced courses such as 'A' and 'B' (MCA) levels. It also lays down the foundation for premier international I.T. certifications from world leaders such as Cisco, Oracle, Red Hat and Microsoft. These certifications lead to superspecialization in high-demand niche fields of networking, database administration, open source technology and software development.
Whether one desires to superspecialize in I.T. or just needs basic I.T. skills for career-specific requirements, 'O' level becomes a must-do course for every student post 10+2.

Successful students of the O' level course, pursuing A' level, will be exempted from M1-R4, M2-R4 and M3-R4 modules in the A' level examinations.

Project Work |
All students are required to undertake a project involving requirement analysis and implementation relating either to conversion of an existing manual procedure to computerised work or to extension/modification of an existing computer - based or internet - based application.
A properly documented project report will have to be submitted. |
The Final Examinations |
These are conducted on a national basis by the NIELIT - the agency designated by Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, Government of India - twice in a year, in January and July.
The students must complete the entire course in a maximum period of five years. The final examinations are supported by continuous internal evaluation. |
Evaluation |
The internal assessment of academic performance is based on the evaluation of the following:-
a) Seminars/Class Participation b) Project work c) Tests/Quizes d) Final examinations.
The results are provided in the form of performance grades accordingly.
80% and above Outstanding
70%-79% Excellent
60%-69% Good
50%-59% Fair
<50% Fail
